JULES CUNDARI (b. 1996, Ontario, Canada) is an artist and Restoration Technician based in Victoria, BC, on the lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples. Her practice engages ethnobotany, plant identification, and ecological restoration to examine how art can support more accountable relationships between human and non-human communities. Drawing from site-specific habitat conservation work, her practice is informed by place-based memory and material inquiry. She creates abstracted ecological forms using paint, graphite, synthetic and organic materials, and poetry, attending to the layered histories, ecological, cultural, and personal, embedded within landscapes.
Jules is a member of MULCH, an arts collective that seeks to explore art through collaborative and land based practices, allowing for fragmented ideas to be a part of a continuous cycle of decay and rebirth.
